Location: Dublin City; Cork Hill, Hume Street, Richmond Barracks.
Subject: Single page from the diary of Michael Healy, stained glass artist and founder of An Túr Gloine. The entry begins with Healy describing how he went out that morning before breakfast to buy tobacco and a newspaper, and how the weather has been beautiful for the previous fortnight. He expresses his pity at the state of affairs for everyone. Healy describes how he went down to Hume Street but could not pass by except for Cork Hill; and how he saw prisoners, both elderly men and a few young boys being taken to Richmond Barracks. Healy recalls how he heard that the leaders were shot this morning. He writes how he had dinner at 3pm and did not go out after Phil Byrne called in the evening- he said that he (Phil) had not been back to work yet. Healy writes how business had resumed on the streets and after 9.30pm the city was quite still. He finishes the entry hoping that he will not hear anymore firing like the previous night.
