In August 2017, the Artists’ Campaign to Repeal the Eighth Amendment organised at the Project Arts Centre A Day of Testimonies dedicated to women’s stories. The main events of the day were a film programme showing short films and documentaries made since 1983 about the lack of reproductive rights for women in Ireland and the effect of the Eighth Amendment, followed by an evening event where actors, artists, and writers read the testimonies of women. ‘Witness’ is 4 compilations each 40 minutes long, combining those short films and testimonies. Witness was created in order to get the individual testimonies viewed nationally and as widely as possible. Screenings of Witness were held around the country in 2018.
