dc:description "Geophysical surveys were conducted across part of one field situated in the townland of Gortybrigane, c.1.4 kilometres to the south-east of Birdhill, in County Tipperary. The surveys were undertaken as two separate phases of investigation immediately to the south-west of Site E2488 / A026/054, in Group 8, beyond the CPO line for the proposed route of the N7 Nenagh To Limerick dual carriageway. Site E2488 forms the north-eastern remains of a subcircular enclosure uncovered in 2006 during the archaeological resolution contract for the proposed scheme. The scheme consists of 35.7 kilometres of dual carriageway commencing at the existing Newport Junction in Carrowkeel and Mountshannon townlands, heading north-east to Nenagh (Carrigatogher), and continuing on to Ballintotty at the end of the Nenagh Bypass. This geophysical work was commissioned by Headland Archaeology Ltd. on behalf of Limerick County Council. Primary Archive held by Mid-West NRDO. Secondary Archive held by Target Archaeological Geophysics";
