Transcript of life history interview with 'Rose' from Cohort B (born 1945-1954) of the Life Histories and Social Change collection (see Related Materials); Female, Roman Catholic, and a grandmother. Rose grew up in a large family in urban Dublin, and describes leaving school at 14 to start working and earning her contribution to the family income. She describes working and socialising in Dublin city centre in the 1960s and 1970s. Rose experienced marital breakdown and discusses coping as a single parent with a young family and her return to formal education in later life, completing school exams and consequently returning to the work force, in particular the positive effect on her self-esteem. She describes assisting her own children financially to establish their households. All names have been anonymised. Access to the transcript is through application to the Irish Qualitative Data Archive and is restricted to bona fide researchers and teachers, and to students that are currently registered at a third-level academic institution.
