Transcription:[page 1] Sir! May I appeal to the public through P columns, for the following cause? For some little time I have been anxious to form some small organised movement for sending regularly, comforts to some of our soldiers now in Belgium. I think that all of us here at home are eager to help our brave men who are giving so much for us, in any little way possible, and I trust the following plan will receive v. generous support. I. To form a small society to last during the war, which would [crossed out] shall [instead] be called "Band of Helpers for Soldiers" and which would have the following rules. for membership [crossed] I (3d [pence] admission to become a member). To pay [crossed out] Members pay [instead] 3d on being enrolled as a member [crossed out]. (which sum wld [crossed out] will go towards buying comforts, also for postage of goods to the front. 2. To send monthly, addressed to me, Miss Monica Roberts, Kelston Stillorgan [name & address crossed out], some contribution, however small, either in money or any of the following articles, all of which are said to be useful by the Communiques [crossed out] [page 2] issued by [crossed out] the War Office through the Press Bureau in the Irish Times issue of August 29th. [last 12 words crossed out] Handkerchiefs, boot laces, chocolate, peppermint dried fruits, briar pipes & tobacco pouches, tobacco, cigarettes, cigarette papers & cigarette tobacco, small tins of boracic oointment or borated [?] vaseline, for sore feet, anticeptic powder, post cards, pocket knives, lead pencils & periodicals etc. III. These articles will be forwarded monthly by [crossed out] to the following regiments [crossed out], the Dublin Fusiliers, and The Royal Flying Corps. IV. If the Society grows & recieves [receives] good support more regiments could be included, but at present the two [crossed] above mentioned will be all to whom this Society will contribute. I will [crossed out] shall be deeply grateful to any one who will assist me in forwarding this scheme, no matter how small the ass [crossed out] contribution my be still it will be a help.
