Photograph of the right side of stone axe (ISAP 08512) from Culbane, Co. Antrim, from the Ulster Museum (UM WM 1724). Macro-ID - Shale. Micro-ID - Shale Ia. Petrology - Grey, parallel sided shaley claystone. Description - Sides - Rounded. Left irregular in centre and towards butt, right towards butt only. Junctions of sides and edge merge on right, damaged on the left. Junctions of the sides and butt clear. Edge - Worn. Minor chipping over the entire length. Single mod. sized chip on left side and right side. Slightly C-shaped in profile. Blade Area - Mod. level of polish on both faces (worn). Faces - Flattened. Low level of polish in centre. Numerous small remnant flake scars adjacent to both sides, both faces, Left side in centre and towards butt, right side towards butt. Butt - Original, no damage. Core taken from the centre of Face 1. Dimensions (length x width x thickness) - 16.5 cm, 7.9 cm, 2.5 cm, 443g.
