Presidential candidate Mary McAleese on RTÉ Television's 'The Late Late Show', on 17 October 1997. This edition of 'The Late Late Show' was a special featuring the candidates in the upcoming presidential elections.

Mary McAleese is a barrister and journalist by profession. She was appointed Reid professor of criminal law at Trinity College, Dublin in 1975. She worked as a journalist and presenter with RTE between 1979 and 1985. In 1994 she was appointed pro-vice-chancellor of Queen's University, Belfast. McAleese won the 1997 presidential election as a Fianna Fáil candidate and was re-appointed President in 2004, unopposed.
