Collection of evaluation and research reports from The Atlantic Philanthropies’ signature investment into prevention and early intervention in Ireland and Northern Ireland (2004-18). Atlantic supported programmes and services that were shown to be effective in supporting children and young people to be healthy, do well in school and achieve their potential. These programmes were rigorously evaluated to assess their effectiveness in improving outcomes for children and young people in an Irish context. The results were publicly shared as evaluation reports and summaries to inform the future design, delivery and funding of services for children and young people.
In 2020, the Centre for Effective Services (CES) were entrusted by the community and not-for-profit organisations and academic institutions that published these reports, to preserve and make them available as a home-grown evidence base for the continued use of prevention and early intervention approaches to tackling social inequalities. This collection includes reports from Atlantic’s Prevention and Early Intervention Initiative (PEII) and from its funding partnership with Government in the Prevention and Early Intervention Programme (PEIP), as well as the more recent evaluation reports from the Area Based Childhood programme, and synthesis reports from CES.
These reports have been archived as part of the Prevention and Early Intervention Research Initiative, which was a major archiving project at the Children’s Research Network (2015-18) and the Centre for Effective Services (2019-20). The archiving project was funded by The Atlantic Philanthropies.
