MID - 5% ilmenite lamellae in sphene/void after magnetite, fresh ilmenite, pyrite, chalcopyrite. 55% very coarse plagioclase altered to epidote/chlorite. 40% green/brown amphibole, primary/secondary. Secondary qu Description - Adze - Pecked, ground and polished. Sides rounded, right side more pointed. Both sides have very distinct junction with cutting edge. Edge chipped and worn. Blade area defined on face 1, break in slope coming back from junction of sides and edge. Face 1 blade area may be re-worked. Faces in good condition, minor pitting on well-polished surfaces which are convex in section (blade area is what distinguishes it as an adze). Butt complete, ground only, minor irregularity where it adjoins left side and where it adjoins face 2. Profile is asymmetrical; thick and the cross-section is oval. Fine striae visible on blade area face 1 running back from cutting edge, which appear distinctive from overall surface pattern. Core taken from face 1. Dimensions (length x width x thickness) - 12.7 cm, 6.9 cm, 3.5 cm, 465g.
