Petrology - Black fine grained parallel laminated shale. Description - Sides - Left flattened, right rounded. Junctions of sides and edge merge. Junctions of sides and butt present. Edge - Worn and blunted. Completely smoothened. Markedly C-shaped in profile. Blade Area - Well defined on Face 2 (re-working?). Single medium sized post-man. flake scar on Face 1 left side. Faces - Face 1 convex, Face 2 flat. Both regular. Well ground, low level of polish. Large post-man, flake scar adjacent to centre of butt on Face 1. Large remnant flake scar adjacent to centre of butt on Face 2. Butt - Original. Damage on Face 1 makes morph. uncertain. Appears to have been rounded/rounded. Core taken from centre of Face 1. Blade area of this axe appears to be in process of reworking. Dimensions (length x width x thickness) - 10.5 cm, 5.3 cm, 2.4 cm, 209g.
