Abstract: Watercolour medical illustration depicting glanders in a child. It has the alternative reference number 1137, 411 and P12 on the front. There is no Richmond Hospital Museum reference. The handwritten note on the back reads 'This boy was admitted for an accident from the effects of which he recovered, but just as he was about leaving the hospital effusion suddenly occurred into several of the large joints & an eruption of pustules appeared along the side of the nose. It being inspected that the disease was glanders. Mr Smith inoculated as ass with matter taken from the pustules. After a few days the animal was attacked with glanders. Hyman died a few days after the appearance of the eruption. Glanders. Christopher Hyman aet 19'.
