Photograph of face 2 of stone axe (ISAP 08995) from the Ulster Museum (UM 3792f), from Dundrum Co. Down. Description- Sides: splay from broken butt to edge, both rounded, right slightly thicker than left, no clear junction of sides and edge. Edge: badly chipped and damaged in centre, worn and minor chipping either side. Blade: Face 1 centre left couple of small post-manufacture flake scars, Face 2 centre large post-manufacture flake scar, (both probably related to damage to edge). Faces: Face 1 not as well polished/weathered?, particularly along entire right side and left side lower portion. Face 2 single medium remnant flake scar adjacent to left side. Butt: broken off, surface of break very irregular. There is an overall symmetry to the axe. No visible striae. Core taken from left side. E.B.Macro ID- Porcellanite Micro ID- Porcellanite Ia. Petrology- Weathered light buff grey green, 35% sub-euhedral < 3mm haematite porphs, coarse lineated streaked, fine mottled. Dimensions- 16.2 cm, 8 cm, 3.5 cm. 779g.
