dc:description "This report presents the results of archaeological investigations carried out on behalf of Kildare County Council as part of Archaeological Services Contract 4 ? Resolution, Prumplestown to Powerstown prior to the commencement of construction on the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford Scheme: Kilcullen to Powerstown. The work was undertaken under National Monuments Section Registration Number E2620, in the townland of Ballybar Lower, Co. Carlow. The Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, following consultation with the National Museum of Ireland, directed that Liam Hackett of Headland Archaeology (Ireland) Ltd should proceed with archaeological resolution. Contract 3 Pre?Construction Testing under Ministerial Direction number A021/062 on this site in 2005 identified a series of pits, postholes and field boundaries. During testing a sherd of prehistoric pottery (A021/062/049) and a fragmented grinding stone (A021/062/051) was found in pit (4254) (Appendices 10, 12). A total of four unidentifiable burnt bone fragments (A021/062/050) were found in the fill of pit (4254). Due to their fragmentary nature it was not possible to identify them as either human or animal (Appendix 14). Full archaeological resolution was conducted on this site between 22 June and 30 June 2006. This revealed a token cremation burial, pits, postholes, two cereal drying kilns and two post?medieval field boundaries. A lozenge shaped arrowhead and prehistoric pottery were also recovered from this site. NOTE: THE GRID REFERENCES PROVIDED IN THE FINAL REPORT PROVED INCORRECT. THE CORRECT GRID REFERENCES ARE INCLUDED IN THE METADATA.";
