UCC CREATIVE in partnership with the French Embassy in Ireland, Cork Harbour Festival, Cork Midsummer Festival, Port of Cork & UCC Women’s Studies presents:
DAILY LIFE / CARL CORDONNIER / JOOLS GILSON
Cork Midsummer Festival 16 – 25 June 2017
Main exhibition open every day. Installation in the Bonded Warehouses open 10am – 5pm, 16 – 18 June & 23 – 25 June, last warehouse on north side of Custom House Quay.
Last seen in Cork with their New Young Europeans exhibition as part of Cork 2005, Daily Life return with the haunting Unveiled Horizons, a large scale outdoor installation of portrait photographs and personal quotations on the Custom House Quay.
This provocative and beautiful work focuses on the hidden presence of women in port towns and cities. Through interviews and photography workshops, Unveiled Horizons collaborates with women from Cork on the composition of their portraits. These images will join portraits and stories of women from Dunkirk, Boulogne sur Mer, Tianjin in China, Tangier in Morocco, Glasgow in Scotland, and most recently in the Jungle in Calais.
Women from all these cities become present in Cork city through Unveiled Horizons
- composing a resonant female gaze from multiple ports, out and beyond multiple horizons.
