Shiúil mé Éire agus páirt (de dh')Éijipt,
Dúiche Uí Néill agus Condae an Rí,
Ceathrú thalamhna ní fhacas ar an méid sin
A bhéarfadh an svae leis ó Choll Dá Lao.
Bhí (bullán d'each) ann is caiple marcach,
Bhí an stail is an láir ann ('gus iad faoi) spraoi,
Níl ní dhá (dtráchtar) nach bhfuil le fáil ann,
Tá an fia bairr ar na gleannta fraoigh.
Tá an poc ag géimreach ag éirí in airde
Ar na hoileáin bhána seo Choll Dá Lao,
Níl ní dhá (dtráchtar) nach bhfuil le fáil ann,
Tá caoirigh bána ann ('s díol eallaigh).
Níl aon fhear amháin spéiriúil as seo go hEgypt,
Ní aithnímsa fríd an tír,
Nach dtigeann ag foghléireacht agus ag déanamh pléisiúir
Ar na gleanntaibh álainn seo (Choll Dá Lao).

Translation:
I travelled Ireland and some of Egypt,
O'Neill's Country and The King's County,
In all of that I didn't see a quarter acre
Which would surpass Culdaly.
There was a huge horse there and hackneys,
The stallion and the mare were there and having fun,
There is nothing at all which can't be found there,
The stag is in heathery valleys.
The buck bellows exhuberantly
On the white islands of Culdaly,
There is nothing at all which can't be found there,
There are white sheep there and plenty cattle.
There is not one cheerful man from here to Egypt,
I know no one throughout the land
Who does not come fowling and seeking pleasure
In these beautiful glens of Culdahy.
