This report comprises the results of licensed archaeological excavations undertaken at Site 16, Corduffhall townland, Co. Dublin, on behalf of Fingal County Council. Archaeological monitoring of the initial programme of topsoil stripping preceeding the construction of Contract 2 of the Northen Motorway: Airport-Balbriggan By-Pass was recommended in Environmental Impact Assessment, Nothern Motorway, Airport-Balbrigaan By-Pass (Valerie J. Keeley Ltd. 1994). Monitoring was conducted by Valerie J. Keeley Ltd., under Licence No. 00E0953 Extension held by Patricia Lynch. This site, identified as a probable fulacht fiadh, was noted during archaeological monitoring of inceptor drainage trenching prior to the construction phase. An excavation licence, No. 02E038 was granted to Patricia Lynch, for Valerie J. Keeley Ltd. However, following consultations between Duchas, The Heritage Service, Valerie J. Keeley Ltd., Fingal County Council and SIAC, a decision not to excavate due to accessibility dangers was reached, and the site was preserved in situ. NOTE: THE GRID REFERENCES PROVIDED IN THE FINAL REPORT ARE LOCATED IN THE TOWNLAND OF BALDRUMMAN. THE SITE LOCATION MAP PROVIDED IN THE REPORT ALSO LOCATES THE SITE AT BALDRUMMAN NOT CORDUFFHALL.
