The Integrated Education Fund [IEF] was established in 1992 to bridge the gap between the limited government money available for integrated schools and what was needed. The IEF’s vision is that educating all children together is an essential part of the reconciliation process and of building a society that celebrates respect, understanding, and friendships across traditional divides.

This collection features the documentation of two grants given by The Atlantic Philanthropies to IEF between 1997 and 2010 totaling £8,461, 000. The grants featured amount to £4,845,000 and were given in 2000, 2002, and 2010 for projects titled Development Programme, Growing Capacity and Strengthening Advocacy, and Supporting Integrated Education Through Transformation.

The records presented in this collection typify as business records, reports, grant proposals, and printed ephemera. This collection is related to an oral history interview given by Paul Caskey, who is head of campaigns with Integrated Education Northern Ireland, and together Caragh Martin, Richard Bullick, and Chritopher Miller, all former students at Integrated Education Schools. The Catholic and Protestant students speak about the experience of learning about each other’s traditions in integrated schools.
