As part of the Nenagh By-Pass Project, Tipperary (North Riding) County Council in association with the National Roads Authority are constructing a new road linking the existing N-52 at Moyroe to the existing N7 at Tullahedy, Co. Tipperary (Fig. 1-2 ). A programme of fieldwalking by ADS Ltd. in August to November 1999 revealed the presence of a possible 25 archaeological sites along the proposed route which required further investigation. These consisted of eight fulachta fiadh, two possible medieval sites, a possible pre-bog field wall, four possible late medieval sites, seven find sites of artefacts and three sites which may be natural and not archaeological in nature (O'Brien & Hughes, 1999). All of the above sites were allocated letters (A-Z) and their locations are outlined on the attached map (Figure 2). This report details the investigations and subsequent excavations that took place along the route in advance of road construction.
