Transcription: [page 1] France June 15th 1917 Dear Miss Roberts You must excuse me for not answering your letter before this but I suppose you have seen the papers about the latest push. Well my battalion has just come out of that fight so I am taking the first opportunity of writing to you. What a splendid victory we had especially as the country was very bad. Our chaps seemed to walk straight through them, nothing could stop them. Well may Ireland be proud of the Irish troops out here, it was a splendid day for [page 2] The Irish we were everywhere we got plenty of souvenirs in there [their] trenches. Our chaps took the ridges from him in a couple of hours what he had fortified for two years. Our artillery was simply splendid they never left a part of his trenches but they didn't hit. We are having glorious weather for it everything is in our favour. Well I am sorry I can't say too much in our letters but I expect to get home on leave any day this week so I think I will have deserved it. I must close now.
