The third National Gay Conference was held in Belfast in 1983, following on from the previous conferences in Cork (1981) and Dublin (1982). The Belfast Conference was called the All Ireland Lesbian and Gay Conference) and was held in Belfast 4-5 June 1983. The theme of the conference was "The Gay Movement as a Campaigning Movement." The venue for the conference was the Belfast Crescent Centre.
