Abstract: Watercolour medical illustration depicting a tumour in a man. It has the alternative reference number 1583 and P10 on the front. There is no Richmond Hospital Museum reference. The artist's name is in the bottom left corner 'W. Neilan del.t'. There are also two other illustrations; the one beneath the illustration depicts the growth after removal. The other beneath and to the right depicts a glass beaker with red fluid inside. The handwritten note on the back reads '-Man in rude health – age 35-40 -growth of tumor(sic) 8-10 years – Progress unattended by pain -vertical diameter of tumour five inches – transverse, below ear, three- -removal of, [??]- In progress of operation, tumour opened – remarkable fluid- [??] spangled with – Front of cyst, removed – back adherent to [?], left – cure by granulation – situation of tumour on right side of the neck delineated – intra-cystic growth – thickened sack – appearance of fluid. Mr Fleming'. The note written sideways reads 'William Johnson'.
