Stephanie Ortoleva is a lawyer as well as the founder and chief executive of Woman Enabled International, a non-profit organization which works at the intersection of women’s rights and disability rights and educates and advocates internationally for the human rights of women and girls with disabilities. Stephanie is from the United States of America and was visiting lecturer at the NUI Galway Centre for Disability in 2018.
In this interview Stephanie explains her background and reasons behind the foundation of Women Enabled International, the human rights issues of women and girls with disabilities. She details some of the collaborative projects with disabled women organisations worldwide and gives some examples of Women Enabled International’s legal work to date.
