An ivory gravoir or hair parter. It is cream-coloured with traces of brown stain. The gravoir is carved to conform to the bend of the tusk from which it is carved. It is carved with a scene of a couple embracing, possibly Tristan and Isolde. He lifts his hand to caress her face.
