%0 Object %T Archaeological excavation report, 04E0974 Kilmaniheen West Site AR04, County Kerry. %A National Roads Authority; Transport Infrastructure Ireland; Taylor, Kate %D 2005-12 %8 %E TVAS (Ireland) Ltd %I National Roads Authority; Transport Infrastructure Ireland %X This report documents the final results of an archaeological excavation of a fulacht fiadh (burnt mound), Site AR04 on the route of the N21 Castleisland to Abbeyfeale Road Improvement Scheme, Kilmaniheen West, Co. Kerry (NGR 108497 122158) (Fig. 1). The excavation forms part of the N21 Castleisland to Abbeyfeale Road Improvement Scheme Archaeological Resolution Contract 2. A small fulacht fiadh was excavated and shown to be formed of a low mound of burnt stone around an oval unlined trough. The primary fill of the trough was radiocarbon dated to Cal BC 1130 to 920 (Late Bronze Age). A small circular pit, possibly an earlier trough, was also excavated beneath the stone deposit. %G en %9 text %W Digital Repository of Ireland
