Mary McAleese presents RTÉ Television's 'Europa', a current affairs series with an emphasis on European issues, in Studio 2 in January 1984. An RTÉ Guide feature on the programme was published on 20 January 1984.

Mary McAleese is a barrister and journalist by profession. She was appointed Reid professor of criminal law at Trinity College, Dublin in 1975. She worked as a journalist and presenter with RTÉ between 1979 and 1985. In 1994 she was appointed pro-vice-chancellor of Queen's University, Belfast. McAleese won the 1997 Irish presidential election as a Fianna Fáil candidate and was re-appointed President in 2004, unopposed.
