‘General Hickie stated that he had been approached as to the possibility of any of the Memorial Fund being used for the purposes of some Memorial to those killed in the present War. The Committee, advised by Mr. Basil Thompson (Solicitor) were unanimous in their opinion that the Funds could not legally be used for this purpose as they had been collected for a Memorial for the 1914-18 War and so could not be used for any other purpose.’ Note: on headed notepaper: Kayos, Greenfield Park, Donnybrook.
