Description

Growing Up in Ireland (GUI) is the national longitudinal study of children in Ireland, launched in 2006. The first phase of the study extends over seven years and follows the progress of two groups of children: 9 year olds and 9 months old. A total of 120 families from the nine-year cohort participated in the qualitative study.

This face-to-face interview was conducted with the parents of Nick. Frank is Nick's father. The family is from a rural area in the Border region of Ireland. This family consists of 2 resident parents and 4 family members in total. The family is also of a low socio-economic status.
